12/28 - Paoma Historic Trail & Fushan Botanical Garden

Product Number: PBTW026
easy

Join Parkbus Taiwan on a fantastic full-day tour and hiking experience that includes two distinct destinations totaling around 10km of easy hiking throughout the day. The first half of the tour will be spent hiking along the point-to-point Paoma Historic Trail, followed by a small group tour through the spectacular Fushan Botanical Gardens.

Guests will be picked up and driven to the trailhead of Paoma Historic Trail at the border of New Taipei City and Yilan County. The first half of the tour will be spent hiking along the 6.6km point-to-point Paoma Historic Trail. This trail is rated easy, with a mix of compact soil and broken concrete trail. The elevation declines about 400m to the town of Jiaoxi.

This trail is predominantly shaded with some spectacular views across the Lanyang Plains (蘭陽平原) out to the east coast, Pacific Ocean and Turtle Island on a clear day. Our private vehicle will pick guests up at the southern trailhead and begin our trip into one of the most remote destinations in Northern Taiwan - Fushan Botanical Garden.

On route to the Botanical Gardens, the bus will stop at a convenience store to allow guests to use the restroom and get some refreshments. Lunch is not provided on this tour and guests are expected to bring their own supplies or be prepared to purchase something on the way. From here, guests will be dropped off at the Fushan Botanical Gardens for an afternoon of exploration and relaxation in this difficult-to-get and unique ecological destination.

The Fushan Botanical Garden functions as a living tree museum of Taiwan that presents its tree and plant collections for education, research, display, and conservation. Diverse endemic plant collections are maintained in the garden with more than 700 species of vascular plants have been planted in this area. The wildlife here is abundant and it isn't rare to spot Formosan Macaque, Crab-eating Mongoose, Formosan Reeve's Muntjac, and Formosan Wild Boar, as well as dozens of bird, amphibian, and reptile species - all in a single trip!

Notice

⚠️ Our pick-up location for this tour will be Taipei Main Station. To ensure we are able to spend a sufficient amount of time in Fushan Botanical Garden the departure time is 6:30am. We will hike the Paoma Historic Trail at a moderate pace to help us get sufficient time in the botanical garden. This is prior to the first high-speed train and MRT arriving in Taipei. If you are coming from another area, you will need to stay overnight and accommodation will not be provided for you. Guests can arrange their own accommodation if they wish.

⚠️ This small group hiking trip is limited to 15 guests. If we are unable to secure 7 guests, we reserve the right to cancel this trip with advanced notice and full refunds provided to any guests who have already paid. Thank you for understanding.

⚠️ For guests looking to explore the Fushan Botanical Garden and join this Parkbus tour, they must understand the following details:

  • To access Taiwan's largest botanical garden our group must apply for and receive entry permits.
Permits must be applied between 60 and 35 days prior to the tour date.
  • Parkbus will apply for group permits on behalf of our registered and paid guests. This means if you are interested in joining this tour please ensure you register and pay as soon as possible so we can ensure our application is submitted within the necessary time frame. Approximately 500-600 guests are permitted to enter the protected area each day.
  • However, due to the difficulty of the trail and securing transportation on either end of this trail we feel confident in being able to secure permits for our guests. However, this means our group application is not guaranteed.
  • If our application is not successful, guests will be informed and an alternative experience will be suggested. If guests will cancel the changed trip, they will receive a full refund. Guest permits are not transferable, so if you book, pay and are unable to attend on that day, we will provide a refund based on the Domestic Tourism Policy (seen in the terms and conditions on our booking page).
